Towards a more effective and reliable salt crystallisation test for porous building materials: Predictive modelling of sodium chloride salt distribution

چکیده

The RILEM TC ASC-271 is designing a new procedure to assess the durability of porous building materials salt crystallisation in laboratory, consisting accumulation and damage propagation phase. consists capillary absorption solution followed by drying at low humidity crystallize salts close evaporative surface without inducing damage. This was experimentally verified on Maastricht Migné limestone but poses question whether can be extrapolated other if distribution influenced concentration conditions. Using multiphase numerical model, sodium chloride accurately predicted for both stones. Furthermore, simulations confirm that protocol remains valid while moderately varying absorbed relative drying. Consequently, protocol’s general applicability confirmed, proving its suitability developing more effective crystallization test.

Salt crystallisation at the surface of a heterogeneous porous medium

Evaporation of saline solutions from a porous medium often leads to the precipitation of salt at the surface of the porous medium. It is commonly observed that the crystallized salt does not form everywhere at the porous medium surface but only at some specific locations. To explain this phenomenon, we consider efflorescence formation at the surface of a saturated heterogeneous porous column (f...

Is sodium chloride worth its salt?

The choice of fluid for resuscitation of the brain-injured patient remains controversial, and the 'ideal' resuscitation fluid has yet to be identified. Large volumes of hypotonic solutions must be avoided because of the risk of cerebral swelling and intracranial hypertension. Traditionally, 0.9% sodium chloride has been used in patients at risk of intracranial hypertension, but there is increas...

structure. So, it is possible to achieve the salinity-tolerant genotype in plants through creating changes in the genetic structure and breeding activities. Tomato is in the group of plants sensitive to salinity stress. Distinct studies have been explained different indicators for tolerance to salt stress in tomato. Identifying a reliable indicator in the early stages of plant growth under salt...

Sodium Chloride Salt Tolerance Evaluation and Classification of Spring Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)

Abiotic stresses such as salinity, are factors that severely affects agricultural production. To evaluate the effects of salinity on some morphological and physiological traits related to salt tolerance of 22 genotypes of spring rapeseed cultivars in the vegetative growth stage, an experiment was conducted as a split plot form based on Randomized Complete Blocks Design using levels of salinity:...
